Seems Star Trek Got It Right

Seems that Star Trek Might have been partially right after all. According to IO9 : Louis Crane and Shawn Westmoreland of Kansas State University propose a way to use black holes as fuel that is entirely within the bounds of physics and technology as we know them, but would take phenomenal amount of engineering.
The crux of their idea involves using using a laser to form a micro black hole, which could be used as an energy source. This would be a Schwarzschild, or non-rotating, black hole which outputs Hawking Radiation, and the smaller the black hole, the more energetic.
Why do I keep thinking of Event Horizon?

  1. that won't happen, because life isn't so peachy as in Star Trek or whatever space movies

greed of wealthy men resides in fosile gasoline
and as long as oil fields can be made/use
we will be forced to have machines and whatnot
    that rely on such fuel

mone $$$ its all about money
and not about what is best for humans

I'm afraid we will never see any outer space

  2. Look this is a OSR science fiction and fantasy blog. I write because its my hobby and you know its really wonderful that you took the time to text a comment about a story I happened to cover back in 2011. But this is a role playing blog and I'm not out to solve the energy crisis which is here to stay.
Thanks for the comment and be well.
    Cheers.
