The Kings & Queens of Ninevah - A Monster Race For Crypts & Things

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away
Percy Shelly
(1792-1822)

The Kings & Queens of Ninevah
Type: Giant
Armor Class: 9(10)

They are the children of Giants & Immortals. These terrible beings travel from world to world like locusts consuming everything & ruling with an unholy fury that knows no bounds.
They have an instinctive knowledge of magic both grey & black many are 1&2 level. Many older  royals  are 3rd & 4th level inhuman monsters. They're minds twisted & swimming within the blackness of their foul magics.

These beings do not die but instead enter a deathless sleep for thousands of years safe within their kingdom of  Nineveh. Only some adventurer or fool would awaken them. They're internment with all of their horrid magic items  draws fools both far & wide to their underground vaults of horror.  For many it's their forbidden treasurers that draw the adventurers & others to their doom.

The legends & beliefs have been spread by these mad rulers of yore themselves for their bodies feed on the life essences of those who are killed in their tombs while their spirits roam the universe discovering all of its dangerous secrets.

Since they are  descened from  a line of magically-adept emperors and empresses, who in turn are descended from Djinn and giants these monster share a limited immunity to magics instead it heals them at the rate of  1 hit point per spell.
They may only be harmed by magic weapons forged in the heart of the coldest dead stars. These mad kings always attack with +1 swords or wands of the most destructive type.
Because of their unholy nature these monsters are partially immune to fire or cold. It will only slow them down. Hellfire & the like they take full damage from however.

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” -- Proverbs 16:18

Notes

  • These are epic level foes & should be used sparingly
  • They usually have some weakness or kink in  their armor enabling a hero or party to vanquish them them.. for a time.
  • These monsters may be encountered anywhere. Ruling over kingdoms of minions & servants.
  • They may be encountered in many different realms & dimensions. They also may have siblings who may seek revenge for those who 'murder' their relatives.

  1. Sort of nephilim or annunaki, it seems--but (maybe) more evil.

  2. Glad you liked this one Trey. They are based partly on the nephilim & my own twisted imagination. There will be more to come.
