 Blurb from the Module :
Something has been pillaging farms and leaving no living thing behind. Merchants have disappeared on the roads and the Tinker now refuses to make his circuit. All of this trouble started when a party of adventurers went to investigate the old temple on the hill. Five adventurers went up the hill to Lilanora’s temple and never returned. Who will follow those foolhardy five and discover what danger lies beneath the temple ruins?

Adapting Temple of The Ghoul As An Old School Space Based Adventure

Temple of the Ghoul is a very well put together adventure mostly geared for either 1st edition AD&D or OSRIC. However with a bit of tinkering this adventure can easily be converted into a space based adventure setting. The temple is really the key here. The location is actually shaped like a temple and not a make shift shrine or temple location found in so many old TSR modules. For my purposes the ghouls in quest became 'Sky Kings' ancient aliens and original inhabitants of the location.
The village became a small low tech shake and bake terraformed farming colony on a backward world. The adventurers were trouble shooters sent into investigate why a radio device had be tripped off of a tech level two world in Stars Without Numbers.  There was only a bit of tweaking for the stats and it pretty much went off without a hitch. This however is pretty nasty little dungeon crawl with some very well done story elements.
One PC died on one of the traps within the tomb itself and the PC's decided to seal the tomb from the colonists. The whole location was put on indict from the colony for now. There will be consequences later on however.
This a solidly put together adventure and it plays quickly easily. Its got some very nice maps and I was impressed with the layout and the job that the folks did putting this together. The author has a quick and easy way of writing about the rooms as well as the location itself.

Do yourselves a favor and download this one. Its that well done and put together.

  3. This one has been sitting on my hard drive for a while but I haven't used it yet.

However, I have read and reread it. It's a great adventure. I really like the layout of the location and it's just a good overall dungeon. And the idea of an old frontier outpost, long abandoned, made its way into one of my own dungeons. Definitely a must have.

  4. This one has quite a few points about design if you look past the actual dungeon and read between the lines with this one. The adventure hits all the high points for easy to run adventure. And its easily adaptable for a number of sessions. Its not simply on my must have but my must run lists. Thanks for the comment and more to come!
